Our Elders

Bruce Fowler

Bruce grew up in Chillicothe, OH as the youngest of six children. He was led to the gospel by his wife of 21 years, Brenda. They have two birth children, Lauren and James (Jimmy). They have also been blessed with the opportunity to provide foster care for nine children under long term care. Two of these are still very involved in their lives. Both Bruce and Brenda have a great deal of love for the church and especially the family at Watterson Trail.

David L. McMurtry

ldr-McMurtryDavid was born in Watson, IN. He married Valarie (Taylor) in 1981. He is the father of two children. While residing in Indiana, David and Valarie became members of the Meigs Avenue Church of Christ of Jeffersonville, IN, where they attended for 13 years. David served as a Deacon with this congregation for eight years. They moved to the Shively area of Louisville in 1984. David and his family became members of the Watterson Trail congregation in 1996. He served as a Deacon from 2000 to 2003. In that year, he accepted the position of Elder. He is currently employed as a salesman for the Interstate Brands Corp. where he has been employed for the past 29 years.

Chuck Richardson

Chuck was born in Rome, NY and attended the State University of New York at Buffalo. Chuck was baptized in 1982 at the church of Christ in Schenectady, NY. In 1983, he moved to Louisville to work for GE and attended the Newburg Church of Christ where he met his wife Ruby. Chuck and Ruby have two daughters Brittany and Jillian. Chuck has served as a teacher, a deacon, and as an elder.

Keith Thomas

ldr-thomasKeith was born in Louisville, Ky and attended Bardstown Rd Church of Christ from 1951 to 1992. While at Bardstown Rd., he taught classes, was a youth director, and participated in the worship services. He graduated form David Lipscomb college in 1973 and has worked for the Internal Revenue Service since 1973. He married his wife Connie in 1974 and they have two children. Brittany and Ryan.

William J. "Bill" Ferrell

Bill Ferrell was born in Butler County, KY in 1927. He became a member of the Bardstown Road Church in 1964, which was one of the original churches that formed the current merged congregation. He was appointed a Deacon in 1996. He retired from General Electric with 33 years of service. He is married to Sylvia and they celebrated their 60th year of marriage in November 2006.

O. J. "Skip" Jennings III

O. J. was born in 1937 and raised in Calloway County, KY. He and his wife June became members of Watterson Trail in 2003 where he was appointed a Deacon (Treasurer) in September 2004.  O. J. also serves as the Cub Scout Pack Committee Chairman.  He and June married in 1958 and they have two sons and three grandchildren.  He retired from government civil service after serving more than 30 years working for the U.S. Army Reserves 100th Division (Training) as a Resource Manager.

Raymond Lee Mivelaz

Lee was born in 1961 in Alton, IL. He has been employed with Aarons Sales and Lease for over 11 years. He has been married to Billie Jo in 1990 and they have two sons. Lee is also employed part time here at the church as custodian. Lee was appointed a Deacon in August 2006

Robert D. "Denny" Tennill

Denny Tennill was born and raised in Shelby County, KY. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1995 after 30 years.  He became a member at Watterson Trail Church of Christ in 2000.  He has been married to his wife, Laura Sue, for over 40 years.  They have two children and three granddaughters.  He has been a Deacon since February 2002.

William E. "Bill" Zeitz

Bill Zeitz was born in Jefferson County, KY, in 1922. He is a veteran of World War II serving two years in the South Pacific.  He has been married to Ann, who was a member of the Taylor Boulevard Church of Christ, since 1951.  He became a member there in 1954.  They have two sons and two grandchildren.  He retired from Middle West Freight Ways as a rate clerk after 20 years.
